Description
Or beginning of the walk, depending on your point of view. Either way, it's foot travel from here on. Here Pele has claimed the road; on the other side of the flow, she took out an entire subdivision. Sorry I don't have any pics of that.
Thanks for stopping and any comments.

Guess this obstruction stopped you in your tracks! Great shot.
Good grief! Glad I don't live there. :~)
So fascinating to see this shot taken by you, Dennis, when we have only seen it before on TV. It's curious to me that they found it necessary to place a warning marker beside the road... as if anyone would actually try to keep driving once they had seen this?? :))
lol@Maria. In the day, the lava is plainly visible but at nights, its like a dark shadow. It gives a driver advance warning in case they do over run the other barricade. For some reason, I remember this area the most. Like you said, its the beginning of the walk or ending of the walk. I'm usually dead tired when I reach this marker and glad to see the end. I'm just fascinated following your travels here. Excellent job. Aloha
Well worth the effort. I'm w/Sharky, your travels produce some fantastic photography. thanx ;-)
Whoa! Now that's one eccentric Goddess! I sure hope you didn't bring home any pebbles. Amazing image :)
this is something to see for sure. cool shot
I guess at this point you get out and walk!!! Great shot and very dramatic!!!!
