Description
White-faced Scops-Owl is a small short-tailed Owl with prominent ear-tufts. Its plumage is soft grey with darker streaks and vermiculations. We can see the dark streaks down its front feathers. It has darker upperparts and whitish underparts.
It has a conspicuous white facial disk bordered with black. Bill is pale grey, darker at the base. Large eyes are orange and black. This means they can hunt at night or day.. Feathered legs and feet are pale grey with black claws.
Both sexes are similar.
Juvenile is brownish, with greyish-brown facial disk.
Otus leucotis has two subspecies: otus leucotis leucotis and otus leucotis margarethae.

The feathers seem to be ... not sure how to say it but... fluffier? Longer and thinner made? Whispier? That's more like what I mean...whispier. A lovely compact owl. Good shot!

I love particularly Owls (In France we have two fifferent words to separate those which have "ears of feathers" and those without . The first ones are called "Hiboux" as the one you captured, and the others are called "Chouettes") . Thanks also for your so interesting resumes Dan .....

An excellent photo of this owl, Daniel. Perfect detail and sharpness.
Excellentissime portrait !
(my only little remark/suggestion would be to crop differently in order not to have the owl in the middle of the picture... but it doesn't destroy the beauty & sharpness of your shot !)
