Everything rendered in tS 6.6. After rendering a version with no volumetrics I then painted everything black and rendered a version with volumetrics on. These layers were then combined in The GIMP. I could have done it all in tS but using The GIMP layers gives precise control over the volumetric effect.
The characters were all originally made and posed using MakeHuman then clothed and textured in tS.
As always, all and any comments are most welcome.

Wow! such a magnificent hall and grandeur for the pomp and ceremony of the the indolent king. Love your lighting effects. Well done and thanks for sharing. Jenny
Excellent...
Just stunning--the hall is a work of art in itself!
Great mood you created here! The hall is magnificent, quite proper for a king. As well as the lighting.
Really a magnificent image...Super!!!bravissimo!V:DDD.Hugsxx
Wow stephen this is truly one of my favorites - not only the subject matter, but the magnificence of the image and those beams of light - fantastic. Great characters too! Make Human, huh? I may check that out. Excellent work, my friend!!
Interesting collection of characters and lots of interesting details. Wow, this must have taken forever to set up! Did you do this layered or layered in postwork?
Man! That hall is most Awesome!! And the volumetrics are marvelous. Well done!!
Fantastic composition!
Thanks for all the kind words folks. Judee thanks as always for your wonderful support. Check out makehuman - it takes a lot of the hard work out of ...er... making humans in that it gives you an anatomically correct base to work from! Magnatude; It did take a while to set up but I also relied on a few chosen shortcuts. Part of this involves using simple volumetric settings that I know give good results from earlier scenes. Whilst I did several test renders with the volumetrics on and could have acheived essentially the same result using trueSpace alone I've found that rendering the volumetrics on their own and combining them latter gives more control over the degree of effect, simply by adjusting the opacity of the relevent layers. Thanks again to all who commented. WZRD
Very very nice, love all the details and perspective :)
Wonderful work. Very well done there.
Awesome work. The lights are fantastic and I also like how the king is putting his one leg onto the pot. This looks a bit funny ;)

Very fine Multi-Pass work...the volumetrics really rock.. ...
Wizard, your work never fails to make me realize just how untalented I am. Good work, as usual.

WOW! What a wonderful picture! Great Godrays! 5++
Fantastic image!! This bodes well for those who would take advantage of the newly-free tS7.6. Obviously very fine work can be done using Truespace.
Excellent indeed. Great lighting!
Wonderful big, detailed scene! Great use of Gimp to manage polygons! Awesome fantasy setting! Nice work!!!
