Description
AloooooooooooooHa!
Another shot of the Rodeo from this past weekend. This is the barrel racing event for the ladies. In this event the riders must negotiate their way around 3 barrels set at about 30-40 yrds. apart in a triangular pattern. Each rider must turn around each barrel without knocking it over before proceeding to the next barrel. A knocked down barrel is assessed a 5 second penalty. In a fast race like this a 5 second penalty is insurmountable. First rider to cross the finish line in the least amount of time is the winner. The winners prize for this event was $500 US.
Not chump change if you ask me....I was thinking about a new lens if I entered this event....
But alas, I have trouble just mounting a horse much less galloping a horse as fast as these women could go. I am content to sit and watch them have a great time at this sport.
This young lady had cleared the last barrel and was ready to fly home as was her horse. I don't think this was the winner.
Mahalo's for your kind comments on my last image "Rodeo Queen"....enjoy the rest of the series....Aloha~

great picture
I guess I never thought about people flying the horses around to these events?? That must cost more than the prize$$ if they win?!!! Did you notice if all the horses had these type of supports on their legs?? I guess it helps to not break a leg!! Superb action shot Dave, even the expression on her face is priceless!!!!! Excellent!!!!! Aloha...
Oh wow what an awesome action shot here, just lovely.
A great action shot, my friend. I am glad you guys decided to go. Keeps me informed about things going on here. Aloha
She sure looks like a winner to me. She had that horse going full speed. Excellent capture. Aloha

This face shows so much expression. You sure do well with sports coverage. Have you ever taken a so-so shot in your life LOL. Fantastic.
Hahahaha, I have the same expression when i'm go with my crazy horse LOL I yell ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhohhhhhhhhhhh LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Excellent picture and very nice timing and color !!! :)
great foto, do you have more of the rodeo queen?
exelent picture.. the timing is perfect, if you look at the horse, youll see how strong this animal is.. nicely done.. ;)
Great action shot! Spotless timing! Hat's off!
what a funny expression on her face :) it's strange for me look at rodeo photography... it's not an usual pratice in my lands! it seems to be very funny!
My bet is she is giving a loud whistle to her horse to encourage it to run now! The leg wraps are for support and protection, you can see the fetlocks on the rear legs going down into the dirt. The quick athletic moves in barrel racing are extremely stressful on a horse's lower legs. The horse is poised to push off from it's strong hind quarters and lower it's head for the final dash. Great action capture! (This is a young rider, notice she is holding the horn of the saddle... she will learn, balance comes in time.)
Wonderful action shot. Looks like a fun event.
Hahah! Love her expression! Another winner here.
Okay, you must admit, you are spreading your wings with photography. Great capture of the feel of this rider. Well done, Dave.
