Description
Coral reefs are found in about 100 countries. Coral Reefs are home to over 25 percent of all marine life and are among the world's most fragile and endangered ecosystems. In the last few decades over 35 million acres of Coral Reefs have been obliterated. Reefs off of 93 countries have been damaged . When corals are stressed by high temperature, ultraviolet light or other environmental changes, they lose their symbiotic algal cells, and appear white (the white skeleton is actually visible through the transparent tissue). Depending on the intensity and duration of the stress, the corals may recover or die.
If the present rate of destruction continues, 70% of the world's coral reefs will be destroyed within the next few decades.
Climate change will destroy the world's great coral reefs within a century, according to a report by German and Australian marine scientists.

Excellent macro. This fish is a star !
That's a beautiful fish, and also all the others from the same family. I love the details of the bubbles on the grass, as some jewels from the ocean. I've often seen fishs as this one when I lived in New Caledonia. But years after years... there where always less and less... Marine scientists think that the great coral reef will be destroy in a century ? Mummmmm I'm not so optimistic, the changes climate is so speed, I'm afraid it will be before the end of our century... One thing is shure, it's that the photographs will remind for the future, and it's an important testimony. Thank you Danny for your work, and your Love for Mother Nature. A very big Hug my friend
What a sad story, but I fear you are right. The capture shows what we don't want to lose ever.. the beautiy of the reefs.
