"As I stood there I contemplated the scene that would take place here within the coming weeks. There would be those who would go solemnly through the gates and never look back, There would be those who would want to change there mind at the last minute either out of love or ignorance, perhaps both or just simple denial and there would be those who would try with all there power to get through those gates. There would likely be blood shed, there would be tears, there would be fear but above all there would be hope. Hope that those chosen to board these great ships would Carry with them the last essence of a once proud race. Humanity's last hurrah was about to begin and those of us who would be there that day wondered who were the lucky ones, us or them?"

Thanks everyone. The story is far from original, it's the same old rehashed theme that made some of the best Sci-Fi. Something about being forced to leave the planet to save humanity that has always staid with me since seeing, as David said "When Worlds Collide". To this day those old grainy images stick with me. It would be a great movie to "re-imagine" IMO, till then we can imagine and create on our own.
