Description
I had a number of messages about how the lions remind people of their domestic cats. This is to show that they are really as playful as the cats you may be familiar with. The one flat on its side is showing submission and intention to play or rather more scientifically to engage in family bonding activities. The one staring is rather inquisitive and intrigued by viewing a part of my camera. These are not my best lion photos and I am wary of backlighting (which some people prefer) but these do illustrate the lion behavior well.
It is the same cat doing the yawn, impersonating PJ (MrsLubner)at the dentist. I apologize for my photos getting mixed up, LOL. (liar!) Thank you for all the comments and joining in the fun. Now a confession: This was the man responsible for poking fun at PJ in this upload:
Today some of the older generation in South Africa still celebrate the Day of the Covenant.

Hu - you were close my friend. Too close for comfort, I think. 17mm??? You must have felt their breath on you. But what an image you got for it! Simply amazing. And it looks as if the lions might not be boring after all, huh?
What a great capture. Nice to see the lighter side of the big cats lives.
great pic. Were you really that close to the lions?
Masterly skill as always - a wonderful shot. Mike
An excellent capture of its games! Wonderful!!! Hugsss.Delia
I really like this photo. You see the cats behavior so clearly. I think when we see our domesticated pets playing together they're right back on the instinctual level with each other that these big cats are. This one looks a bit wary of you and the one in background looks like he's on guard. LOL This is a terrific capture...be careful! ;o)
What a lovely close-up of my favourite characters. Well done, again!!
Great shot! I hope that was a telephoto lens, as it seems a little too close for comfort!
That top one sure has her eyes on you. Excellent capture. Aloha
Superb capture, Oom. The third cat at the back has a menacing expression! Hugs. Di.
a beautiful, intimate look at these cats, well done!!

They look as if butter wouldn't melt in their mouths but that is only an illusion I guess. You have captured a lovely moment here.

Are you seure she wasn't lookin' at you? That's a "What you lookin' at?" expression if I've ever seen one. Another great capture of the big kitties.
