Peeping from the grass by busi2ness

I spent quite some time near the lions recently and I believe I can now photograph the cubs without having the lioness upset. It is wonderful to see the way they communicate and while I had been in the vicinity the lioness did not allow them to play and thus they stayed rooted in the grass. The lioness dozed off regularly in the heat giving me a more relaxed opportunity to take the photographs.
Have a super week wherever you are!

I have no doubt that the resulting photos are only slightly more fullfilling as the gaining of the mother's trust was for you. There is nothing in the world like having a powerful animal grant you some level of acceptance. These are precious photos, wonderful to stop and gaze at for a while. :-)
Piet that is probably the best seen captured of a lioness.... the detail and POV is FANTASTIC!!! My hat goes off to you, for managing to get that close...job well done :)
Your lion series is absolutely marvellous, Piet. In general,my short Arican experience tells me what it costs and how well you know the nature to do such great works.

You are doing a wonderful job. I shot buffalo from thirty feet away, rhinos from across the fence. Your pictures are excellent. I love the cubs.
haha.... I think getting the lioness upset would be a bad thing. You've done a grand job of capturing family life in the heat. Amazing collage!!
Such a wonderful composition of fine photographs. Excellent work.
