Description
I was playing with a zoom tele at short distances and low light, trying manual settings for future thought. With seed on the deck railing, this little Tufted Titmouse came down and looked right at me.
Sorry, focus is not quite as sharp as desired. The shot was unexpected and dof is only about 3/4" or 19mm at the fl and distance of the shot. Even the tiny bird is more than 19mm from beak to back of head.
This one got a seed, took it too a tree to eat then came back again. Fun to watch these along with their Chickadee buddies and the other hangers on. When there is no seed early in the morning, they sit in a nearby tree and fuss!

Super head on display and good enough for me to see quite clear. A bird I have never seen in person. Great capture.
Cheeky little guys, aren't they? :) Nice shot for the feel of the moment. Since his "tuft" is tucked back does that mean he is comfortable? :)
Beautiful shot!
This is a wonderful shot, he looks so inquisitive :) I love the Titmice(?) they are constant companions (along with the Chickadees) around my house and help to keep things from getting too quiet, lol. They usually hang around when all the other birds scatter.
Nice shot. You really caught its little personality. Bunny
Cute and a same time kinda upset on something! lovely shot Tom!
Well, this could easily work as soft focus and considering the conditions you describe in the text I think the shot is good enough. It has nice color and I like the spontaneous compo too.
It is a wonderful capture, Tom. I have never seen this bird before. Thank you for showing him to us all. Diane.
Have seed, they will come. The DOF with the zoom is nice. That is something that makes these bird photos. You managed a nice viewpoint from it too. Good stuff Tom!
Great work, Tom! A wonderful capture of this little fellow!
What a cutie Tom:) Great capture mate
Excellent capture,so wonderful render!!!
I like the expression of the lil bird. Nice impromptu capture. ;-)
Hey, this is a wonderful capture. I see though it was fast, you were able to compose it quite well. I love the perplexed look on the TM's face. I have to say that my favorite part though is the out of focus background...it is a beautiful soft abstract.

Wonderful photo. The bird looking straight at the camera really engages the viewers attention.
