Description

This is a Corel Painter image of a male Swainson's Hawk who lives at the Raptor Recovery Center in Ft. Collins, CO. He is a "lifer" there as he has an unmendable broken wing. Doesn't mean he doesn't like to try tho:) All the raptors there are such an inspiration! So this is my first attempt at doing anything in the Corel Painter I won in the Halloween contest. (Wow! Awesome program!!) I had had an old Graphire 2 tablet but never could get it to work right- spent 3 hours yesterday to finally realize I plain got a bum pen for it. Anyway I broke down and went out and got the new Intuos 3 tablet (believe me I am NOT rich or anything close to it:) coz I knew I've needed one for my biz for years and just couldn't make myself spend the money. Well I will say it is more than worth it if you ever want to draw with a tablet. Am still on a learning curve with it but boy can I see the future potential!! Anyway definitely let me know what you think of this effort good or bad! And thanks for looking!

You have done a beautiful job of capturing this beautiful hawk's spirit. He looks strong and determined. I also like the technique you've used, with the pastel shades and texturing, which gives it a kind of etheral quality. Really great work with your new program and tablet. You're an exceptional artist and I'm glad you pampered yourself with this new tool. Soon you will be flying higher than ever. :o) CC
