Description
Hi folks.
The following is a yucky story about a yucky photo of a yucky-looking bird....So I don't blame you if you decide not to read any further...I'm not sure I would even want to...So this is my way of warning you, guys.Okay? Okay.
Aw,I knew your curiousity would get the better of you, lol.Okay, last chance...it's still not too late to back out,you know.
Lol,you really can't help yourself, can you? Okay then, you asked for it...
I was fiddling with my camera last week in my brother-in-law's backyard, when someone called to me ,'Ooh,look at that funny bird.Quick,Marlene get a picture!'
The kids were all playing in the jacuzzi and this little guy had flown right up to the edge of it,seemingly oblivious to any form of threat from them,whatsoever....and he was chirping his little fool head off.So I rushed over towards him,and just as I put the camera up to my face,he flew off to the other side of the yard.
But now,he was in an even better position for me,for he had perched himself on the fence directly at my eye-level.So I approached him slowly, trying not to frighten him and surprise ,surprise,he didn't fly away.He just kept sitting there chirping and chirping and chirping.
Finally, when I got good and close to him,I put my cam up to my eye and zoomed in as much as I could.Focused...and
Click!Got him!
And that's when he turned his head...and...and...EWWW!...His right eyeball had been half pecked out!EWWWWW!!!!!!....And,yuck(!) I got to see it up close and personal.....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :^/
Well, needless to say,I screamed and ran away, camera swinging wildly at my neck, with a major case of the heebie-jeebies.
So...what's the moral of this story?
One,always....always(!)...wear your camera strap!
And two...
Well,I think I'll let you guys figure that one out for yourselves.Lol.
Thanks for looking and for any comments you see fit to leave.I hope I didn't gross you all out too much. But hey,I did warn ya,didn't I?
Sincerely,
Marlene :^)

Hey!! It's Old "One-eyed Pete!" Yeah, lost that eye in the "War of the Grackles". Still, no need to worry Marlene, Petey still gets around just fine! LOL!! Nature can be scary, can't she? This is a wonderful image!! So crisp!!! And the warm light of the day is gorgeous!!! And of course your story is delightful! Hope you are staying cool! Hugs! ~E~
ROFL!!! Its amazing how you can make such a sad story sound funny. Only you are capable of that. Youve proven that over and over again with your uploads, that youre not only a talented photographer but also have a way with words. Admireable! Beautiful photo...nei...AMAZING photo! The clarity is outstanding and the DOF is perfect. I love how you can actually make out the branches back there. Awesome photo Marlene....well worth the yuck-factor i think. Now, if only you had gotten a photo of THAT! EYE would have been impressed to see you post it, heheh. I just saw a Grizzly attack documentary so that doesn't phase me in the slightest. Anyway, this is a great, crisp well lit shot and I like the red railing. Your story adds exta pizaz!

Wonderful shot of this beautiful bird! Bravo!!
He looks so sweet, kind of him to turn the right side at you first. I can see you rushing away, such drama in miniature. Wonder what your children said :-)
LOL@that story!! You had me intrigued before the picture even loaded! That bird isn't all THAT yucky... but we can't see the flip side... just like life! Thanks for sharing this. :0)
Thanks for the story and that beautiful shot.
Oh, the poor little fellow... it's a beautiful photo ... I have a black bird around here that is blind in one eye and surivives well. Just has to have a rotating head to keep an eye (scuse pun) on everything.
ahahaha... You remember me when I have my super big patiency for take my friends birds !!!! But I don't have Jacuzzi :((( Well, I have a very bieg area park in Seville. I like your morality in this history and i know, it's true. It's an excellent capture my pretty and your composition color is perfectly!!! Well done my friend ... Bonne journ et bisous :D
what beautiful light here..
I think animals adapt better than humans sometimes. actually I see a beautiful bird an outstanding macro
2nd moral is? hmmm be the other person with a camera near by, to take photos of some wild screaming lady running. Maybe. I was reading along thinking it was going to be a cute story too. Poor birdie. Way better shot on the fence I bet than the jacuzzi. Entertaining you are Marlene! Have a fantastic week hugs
Nice story! Fantastic shot! And - bravo!!!
LOL!!!!! that's a bit too close to my zen eye story for me, at least I still have my eyeball left in tact!!!!! I can only imagine you sneaking up on this little bird with such intrest and then Zap, being horrified!!! LOL!!!! You did however capture his good side perfectly. The amazing part to me is that he just carries on chirping & chirping, like there's no tomorrow!!!!!!! Love your story!!!!!
real cool love the bird
Heeeeeeha! Now that's a funny, I don't care who ya are. You know no matter what, you already sucked me into the story and I had to read on. Glad I did...wish I was there to see the hysterics...at least he showed you his good eye....poor little pirate bird. Great story Marlene, you certainly gave me a good laugh...love this shot! Aloha~
Awesome photo!
This is my best side Shall I turn the other cheek; Nature, tooth and claw. Excellent capture, Marlene.
Well, sh*t happens especially in Nature...good shot, funny story in spite of the poor one-eyed boidy :o) Have a wonderful day S hugs
Marlene, his name is Cyclops. You need to get that bird a patch for his right eye. how cute would that look? We could call him Capt. Jack Sparrow...you know...Pirates of the Caribbean...lol...Great capture Miss NYH white hunter...
So the second moral of your story would be that you shouldn't sneak up on chirping, innocent-looking fluff-balls since they ... um ... might have had a run-in with a cat?? :)) Beautiful, crisp and detailed - and he looks very proud with that pose (in reality, of course, he is hard at work estimating the perfect moment to show you the other eye - for maximum effect:)
i didn't know a little sparrow could be so cute. fine capture.
WOW....Soooooo sweetly and lovely!!!!!!!!!Superbly shot!!Bravissima!:DDD.Hugsxx
