Description
Last night I was on line and keep hearing this rumbleing sound; then it came into my mind "that rolling thunder"
lol I run outside and saw the sky light up time and again real fast. I run inside and got my camera and back out side. I had to hold my free hand over my camera so it would not get wet. Just a slow rain came down on me. I took 50 photos then I had to go back inside and upload onto my camera and change battery but then I noted the storm was moveing to far away to get any more shots. Out of 50 shots I just got one and this is it. I got 2 blue after the lighting flash. Now I know what those other people go thought to get shots of lighting.
This looks like it hit the ground.
Now you wonder why I put the title as is. I watch a show on tv one time and it showed a bottle of ozone and they put freon into it and the ozone was gone. This leave you to think freon is very bad. Then I watch another show and they put freon into a bottle that had ozone in and the ozone was gone but this show shot elecitic thought the bottle and the ozone was back. They show that elecitic put ozone back into the air. So this is nature way of puting ozone back into the air.
Around all active volcanos there is a hole in the ozone. The seas of the earth produce more freon in one day than man ever used. Lighting put the ozone back into the air. This is how nature is.
I read the Japan people is makeing a plane that is power by the sun and will fly above the clouds over the south pole and it will make lighting to put ozone back into the air there. The planes will never land. There is a big hole down there. They do not know how long that hole been there for they just find it a few years ago[ like 30 to 40 years ago I guess. That hole could have been there for 1000's of years]
Oh and around big cities the ozone is thicker there. I do not know why.
thanks for looking and comments

Impressive and very opportune shot Jock......!!!!
Rare R the ones who run outside when the storm approach... ;o)) Beautifull night shot !Jock ! Fantastic colors & well catch lightning !! Bravoo !! Thks 4this unique !! xxxxx
Good short erland
Wow! Fabulous capture, Jock!! I've tried many times to catch a lightning bolt (on film) but met with no success. Great shot, and interesting info too.
Very lovely shot, and great lesson! You said you don't know why the ozone is thicker around big cities. I think it's because God knows we need it more. ;) I learned a lot from your notes about lightning generating ozone in the atmosphere. Glad to be able to say, "Ya' learn something new every day!" Thanks! :D
Nice capture my friend! Not east at-all!!!
Look unreal sky and very nice colour.. Amazing and very good capture. Thank youu for share
Good catch.
Great modd and capture!
Awesome shot Jock
The trees, plants, grass 'n' I miss thunder 'n' lightning 'n' rain storms. Maybe tomorrow they say. Beautiful shot Jock! (:
Lucky capture Jock!!!
it is hard to capture lighting and you done well.I am too chicken to stay out long, so I stay just inside the garage.it is still very dangerous
Well done Jock!
Well captured - I have never managed to get a good shot of lightening - well done this is excellent !
Excellent shot! Super job!
Gorgeous shot, Jocko!!!! Love that lightening!!
Very impressive and most beautiful light! Excellent shot!!!
Superb shot Jock!! Love this, the colour is fantastic. Thank you for info too :-) Hugs. Di.
A very interesting post. I guess we have a big hole in the ozone layer here in Hawaii since our volcanoes are active. And do not fly those Japanese planes at night...lol. Just kidding. Excellent capture of this lightning... Aloha
Very tricky to capture...well done, a lot of these digital camera have a motor drive option, so you can get 50 shots all in a sequence ! my camera has a delay which makes this kind of capture really hard to get, kool OZONE pic Cheers
Marvelous photography !! and a terrific text to explain !! very good indeed !
It is difficult to capture the lightning indeed. Hey, Jocko, did you know that if you put freon and ozone in a bottle and the lighning strikes it, the freon, the ozone and the bottle all disappears. LOL ;) just kidding. I'm not going to hold the bottle to find out.
Nice balance between the lightning and that one light. Great looking capture!
Good atmospheric shot, although the lightning bolt looks kind of wimpy. Difficult to time lightning bolts; probably have to leave the camera on a tripod with the shutter open, but then you lose the blackness of the scene.
Spectacular capture Jock!
I'd like to point out that the oceans do NOT produce freon. Freon is strictly a man-made chemical. In fact, I just read an article published by Columbia University saying that Freon is being used to trace ocean currents. This is possible because there is NO naturally-occurring Freon in the oceans - if you put a ton of it into the water and then detect it miles away, weeks later, you know it's the stuff you put there. It may be that there are naturally-occurring chemicals in the ocean that also deplete ozone, but if someone's telling you the ocean is emitting Freon, they are lying to you. The oceans DO produce a huge amount of chlorine, which is what actually destroys the ozone, but this chlorine is returned to the ocean by rainfall before it can reach the stratosphere where the important ozone lives. Furthermore, the amount of ozone generated by lightning is only a small fraction of the stratospheric ozone, which is mainly generated by ultraviolet light reacting with oxygen. Nice picture, though. I know how hard it is to capture lightning - I've only succeeded using video equipment.
Nice shot well done !
Wow, amazing shot!!!! Awesome colors! +++
oh wow I'm surprised the sky was so blue with all that going on great capture my friend:
