Description
In the Hoh rain forest, anything that stops moving is almost instantly covered with moss. This area in western Washington gets 12 to 14 feet (3.5 to 4.25 m) of rain a year. There's a nice writeup here about it.
Thanks for all the nice comments on the deer yesterday. They are most appreciated.

Splendid!!!!!bravissimo!V:DDD.Hugsxx
Great shot. Yes, the forest takes over very quickly. Wonder if the phone still works.
Thought provoking. Harry Graham (1874-1936) would have been impressed ;-] thanx
Neat shot, Dennis, a perfect example, and the write-up was very informative too. Thanks for including the link. Last winter seemed especially wet there. When Lori and I visited Quinault Lake some of the lower areas were flooded right up to the road. The carpets of moss, as you mentioned, were the most striking feature.
Yha Dennis, I know what your saying if you don't keep up with the moss, it will attach...lo Nice write up, I do like the moss in the forest, but not on our roof...lol Excellent shot!
LOL! I need to post this one on my wall! What a great reminder. This must be why they call it 'vegetating'! :)
