Description
Hello all!!
Taken a few days ago . My first dragonfly!! yeaaa !
( I have one that looks like a little like one in black and white in my gallery called wings in light but thats actually a moth of some sort )
So this little red guy with an attitude (LOL) was my first dragonfly here and so, I did my best to get a macro of him.
This is cropped just barly . I was that close ( I was two -three inches away ). Problem was it was quite windy and the leaf was blowing and he was riding that leaf and holding on determined ! THe little red guy seemed to stare at me curiously and intently !! lol... SO , to try and keep him and the leaf he was on still (so I could begin to focus on the macro ) I held on to the swaying leaf he was on and then tryed to shoot with my other hand (which I discovered is quite hard - doing a macro to hold the came with one hand and steady it without a trypod on a windy day haha ) without scaring him away . I think his wings were moving in the shot though so couldnt get them like I had wanted.
SO this was the best I could do for the first time . I took a few other shots from above looking down on the wings and backside that was perfectly focused and clear but like this angle from a lower profile position better..!!
Taken with my little nikon 7900 pocket cam that really does goes with me everywhere in my pocket lol!!
hope its ok...for a first try at one anyways...
Thanks for all your time and comments!
Love to you all!
((( Big hugs )))

For a first dragonfly or a hundredth one this is excellent!!! :) The conditions you describe sure are challengin when taking macros lol :P Excellent work and thanks for sharing! :)
Dang Kimmie, this is one your very best macro's...beautiful specimen here and you caught him dead on...What a beauty! The green background really complimenst this dragon flys red color...Hats off to you Girl...Str8 to Favs for this guy..Maika'i!! Aloha to you!
excellently done - doesn't look like a first try - although: the perspective doesn't do complete justice to the wings, which wasn't that bad if the eyes were sharper (not the feet); but to get this you really need time and thousand trials...compliments...
fantastic pic from a fantastic girl
Magnificent shot Kim..beautiful colors and wings!!
Spectacular shot Kimmers. Outstanding work. :-)
Stunning image!! I love dragonflies, wish I could get that close to get a shot like that. Great work
As if you really wanted to convince me that you can do more with your little camera than me with the 'big one'... LOL. Need I say more? You sure convinced me, alright...

Fantastic photo, it's amazing you got so close. Two years ago I took a photo of a Damselfly, which is smaller, as I drove from Italy through France and home in the UK. I stayed at a campsite near a stream where these amazing creatures were dashing over the water, I was so pleased I got a photo, but it's not half as good as yours here, well done. Steve:)
Congrats on your capture... very nice... I remember my first capture of one and it is exciting. It took awhile too cause the little guy wouldn't stay still...
Hi K!! WHOA!! This looks like something out of a monster movie!!! You did an awesome job!! I've tru=ied that one handed macro thing and you're right...it's quite a challenge! Standing O for a super shot!!! :o)b
The macro of a still critter is one thing but moving is really, really a test! Nicely done. Congrats!
