Description
Another one that's kind of old, but was set aside because I had other, newer stuff I wanted to show off first. I'm really proud of this shot. As the title suggests, the frogs in the pond are VERY tame. They'll let you get right up close to them and won't be disturbed at all; I remember I really wanted an action shot of the Big Fat Frog, so I got mom to gently poke them with a stick in the hope that they would leap. She had to prod the frog at least ten times before they even budged, and they only moved a few inches.
However, the frogs that hang out in the puddles in the middle of the road -- it's a dirt road, and the ruts dug in the mud by passing cars collect some pretty big puddles -- are not so tame. This is understandable, since they live under the threat of being run over by said cars. Some are tamer than others, or at least less willing to give up a comfortable place in the sun, and if you walk up to the pond on a sunny day there's a chance that four or five little faces will be poking out of the water to greet you.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments! I'm going out frogging later today and hope to get some more postable photos to show you.
EDIT: not assuming gender in frogs anymore (because if you think about it, that just makes no fucking sense -- it's not like they can tell us what gender they are -- plus it's cissexist and binarist). sorry about that.
