Description
A very hastily taken photograph of one of the five towers of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap province, Cambodia.
This was shot after a very shakey ascent up one of the oldest and steepest stone staircases I have ever climbed. Even after almost 900 years, constructed during the reign of Suryavarman (1112-1152), this religious shrine has not lost its power to humble and inspire.

Thank you all very much for your comments. I hope to post a few more images of Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Phrom over the next few days. My wife and I spent our belated honeymoon among these ancient ruins... and we had a most excellent time!

Always impressive to see relics of the ancient world. It's difficult to imagine their day to day lives. Thanks for sharing. Funny though, to most of us 900 years is ancient. But when you sit down and really ponder it....it wasn't that long ago.

Wow! Very impressive Moe! That camera angle really gives you a feel for how steep those steps really are! I'm sure nothing like being there, huffing and puffing, (that would be me) but impressive none the less!

Great photo Moe, love the shot you're taking of temples. Cant get to them myself but at least knowing the person taking the photos they have a bit more of a personal touch than those in books.
