Description
Glasswing Butterfly
As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rainforest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change. Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red. Looks right at home on this Bird of paradise flower!

Hello!Another amazing macro! This excellent shot is a big masterpiece my dear friend!!My sincere compliments for your big skill!Well done!V!!I wish you a happy day!
WOW!! look at those magnificent wings they look like glass almost i have never seen a butterfly quite like this one your colors and compo are dead on !! brilliant capture !! V!
Talk about beam-splitting pellicles, hehe. Great and elegant lead and crystal design! With no "eyes" on the wings to be seen puzzling out the possible functions is interesting. Do they taste especially bad, for example, thus warning predators, including birds, away with obvious architectural and ecclesiastical allusions? Camouflage? Hmmm--do look a lot like several stinging insects.
Wow what a beautiful butterfly and those wings do look like glass Beautiful sweetie...I uploaded a new one today drop by when ya can Vote n hugs Susan~
