Ostrich
Continuing with portrait...
In Belgium, because of the H5N1 avian influenza,
a law oblige to confine all poultry flocks;
from March 1st, they can no longer roam freely...
However, last week-end,
this ostrich broke the barrier
and was playing outside
enjoying the spring weather...
This current avian influenza epizootic shows the extent
to which a serious sanitary event affecting the animal kingdom
can have global consequences
both for the rural economy and food security,
while causing threats to public health.
