Jago Nusturm was the City Engineer for Trashtown for the past two decades. He was a stern, but fair man. He asked no more of the workers under him, then he asked from himself. Too bad for the people under him, he asked so much from himself. He was widely known for his feathered hat and precise manner. He was responsible for keeping Trashtown functioning, and he took his reponsibilities most seriously. He even worked on menial jobs, with the gusto he had from decades before. He was working on a transmiter relay on a roof-top when things started to go terribly wrong elsewhere. Jago was on a rooftop five or six blocks from where his son, Jav, and his friend ,Ganz, were on top of the basin-fronted sentry perch. That was the tallest building within the fences of Trashtown and had a commanding veiw of the up, and down-river area of Taru City. When the radio chatter picked up about something going on in the Basin below, he moved over to the railing and turned up the magnification of his goggles to watch. He watched police-bots from Flying City 64 pick up a stray Discard from where she was talking to the hob-goblin. He then watched in horror and wonder as the River King and Leviathan attacked the lander that the bots were heading back to. The bots swerved and headed toward Floating City 64, which would lead the monsters right through Trashtown! "This is Jago! This is a red-alert status! Deploy all troops and prepare to repell river monsters from the basin area!" He watched grimly as the bots flew up to Ganz and Jav's postion. He knew HE would shoot them down. Ganz and Jav shot down the robot Collecters and caught the girl. The Lander floated out over the basin and fired it's cannons into the waste-heat pipe and coolant lines going to the huge Atmospheric purifier. The explosion for the waste-heat pipe threw ferrocrete to the far side of the river. The power died immediately. The back-up power in most of the buildings came on sporadically. "This is Jago again! Shoot down that lander by any means possible! Expell all of City 64 personell! Fire one and I mean -ONE - small SAM at city 64's underside! Find the Mayor! We need a council of war! If City 64 fires back, blast them out of the sky with everything we have!" A day he had feared all his life was upon him. He prayed he had the resolve to see it through. For all his people's sake.
