Description
When I was a kid, I saw the Firefall at Yosemite. I'd forgotten all about that until I saw a tv program about it. For nearly 90 years, every night at 9 pm they would shove burning embers off a cliff in a long steady flow and it would make a glowing waterfall, without the water. This is my attempt to capture the Firefall.
I saw it in the late 50s and ten years later they discontinued it because the traffic and hassles it caused were too much for the park. yet another cool tradition faded away.

Well now thats cool. What a different view of a beautiful fire fall..hee hee. Excellent image.
I too remember the "Firefall". Something only few have seen. Your rendering is fantastic, how did you do the actual firefall?
OK, I remember this too! I was a kid, maybe 10, with my parents and remember clearly this fantastic event. Thanks for bringing it to life once again. KP Hey! it's almost Halloween! go to www.killerpumpkins.com if you like the holiday. Thanks again
Gorgeous render. Odd tradition.
Cool pic, nicely done! Too bad I'll never get to see something like that. Looks like you're not the only one with fond memories of it though -- take a look at http://yosemitefirefall.org/ .
First I've heard of it. Hopefully they didn't do it during a dry season. :^) Terrific render.
And they think 'Guy Fawkes' night is weird...;-) Nicely done!
