Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Sep 04 5:31 pm)
I understand you and I agree on most points. I won't leave Poser, except if I leave the 3D world.

a good point. you would think getting people interested in poser would help sell poser 14 and such. keep plodding on poser peeps!Yes, I noticed it too. As also noticed how little Poser gets promoted here, or any traffic on its specific forums. I am pushing it as far as I can, but we are swimming against the tide. DAZ is on the genAI bandwagon rather fully too.
I'm not very optimistic, but I trudge along.
You can still search for Poser content.

Unfortunately that includes both actual Poser content and DSON content. But the notes should specify whether any given product is Poser or DSON. DSON requires Poser 11 or older.

I don't shop there very often because they haven't added much and the downloadable files are not labeled very well for Poser users. I'd rather shop here. But sometimes when you can't find something here it's worth looking around. (I usually try SketchFab first if I'm looking for models.)
I think I might be able to take some credit for the POSER search button at DAZ. In the initial roll out, it did not exist and I put in a ticket noting they would certainly sell Poser content if it was easier to find. =)
As for promoting Poser here, I think that content creators follow the money and there's more money in the larger DAZ Studio market. The Vanishing Point creator called Dodger did a series of Sci Fi clothing outfits for LF2 but seems now to be refocusing on Genesis 8 and 9. I contacted Vanishing Point to see if one of his recent G8-9 models could be converted for Poser and was told that he moved to DAZ Studio formats due to low sales of his Poser content. =(
I'm glad that Poser development continues, albeit pretty slowly... =\

Sketchfab is a good place to find free models in other formats, e.g., FBX generally imports fine, although you never know what you're going to get in terms of how big things are. Not everything can be downloaded, not everything that can is free, but there is a lot of content and I have found a lot of useful stuff there.I have seen the Dson thing but I have no clue how to use it. I will have to look at SketchFab ?
As for DSON, if you don't already have a copy set up in Poser 11 it will be impossible to learn it because It is no longer available from DAZ as far as I can tell. After the Python upgrade in Poser 12 and newer, DSON isn't supported by Poser either. BUT, if you have P11 and a copy it will allow you to load some Genesis and Genesis 2 content pretty easily. With finagling you can load more recent DAZ content, too.
I'd go with Chromestar's advice and learn to import FBX props and clothing which can be made to work in a number of ways. Beside Sketchfab, I also go to CGTrader for material. There's also some Poser material at Renderhub but they don't make it easy to find; searching using the term "Poser" brings up some pretty good stuff. If you like kinky science fiction, steam and dieselpunk, look for a content provider at Renderhub called Jibicoco; he shares a lot of cool stuff that is completely Poser compatible and FREE. XD

Whe I use FX for props, I put the fbx file in a teexture folder. I then Load it, scale it if necessary and save it as a prop. Doing it that way, all of the textures are alredy where you want them :D
As for Rendo promoting Poser, Just look at the spamletter you gt very day, for character content it is almost exclusivly DAZ

Something is concerning me and I am going to open a topic some might not want to mention. And Since when I am writing I can be more thoughtful and considerate than when my big mouth is flapping, I will start by saying I am not bringing this up to annoy or upset anyone.
Like most of you as a poser user for years I have been using this sight some sights that have passed beyond the website vale and Daz3d . And my worry and concern began when Daz3d recently changed their website. Yes I get they are called Daz3d and want to push for Daz uses more, but suddenly it feels that us poser users are second class over there? searching for poser stuff on that sight now is not an easy task.
Poser might not be everything that everybody wants, but from my point of view I have good reasons to stick with it. 1. I have decades of poser stuff (some that can no longer be found) 2. my Pc has trouble rendering Daz3d , its grainy and I have no funds to replace Hardware just to keep software happy. 3. I'm too old to start learning a whole new way of doing things (and even after decades I'm still finding new stuff on poser)
So an appeal to you people who deal with this stuff, please keep us poser users relevant here, (after all we do keep buying stuff.)
