DAZ Packager — free tool to make any Daz content DIM-installable.

Ever bought Daz content outside the official store and had to manually sort files instead of just using Install Manager? DazPackager fixes that: drop a .zip (or an extracted folder) onto it, and it generates the Manifest.dsx and Supplement.dsx files DIM needs — no manual editing.

Free, open source (MIT), single portable .exe
Works for buyers (repackage a purchase) and creators (package your own releases)
Batch mode to process a whole folder of products at once
Drag & drop support

Before you try it, a few important things:
- No installer — just a portable .exe, run it from wherever you put it.
- Requires .NET 8 (Runtime) to be installed on your system.
- It's a command-line tool. Don't just double-click it expecting a window with buttons — it needs arguments (a path to your .zip/folder). Drag-and-drop your file(s) directly onto the .exe, or launch it from a terminal with the proper syntax.

It's a command-line tool, not an app with a graphical interface.

On Windows:

Start → type cmd.exe → press Enter
cd "folder_where_DazPackager_is"
Type DazPackager.exe and press Enter

Don't double-click the EXE — the window will close automatically before you can see anything.

OR, drag & drop your .zip file (or folder) directly onto DazPackager.exe.

You don't need to move anything. All "DIM ready" zip files will be created in the same folder as your original content.

Hi!

I am the tester who tested the item. I managed to get it to work fine and have my product folder appear in DIM under Ready to Install.
I also tested installing and then removing my product from DIM - it all works as advertised.

You need to know where your DAZ Studio packages are stored on your machine, because this is where you need to put the new zip that gets generated.

I have to admit I struggled at first until I realized you simply have to drop your folder or zip directly on to the .exe in the folder you have extracted the .exe to.

You also need to make sure to follow the instructions in README.md - look under ### Prerequisites for a link to how to install the correct version of .NET if you don't have it on your machine already.

Hope that helps!

DazPackager v1.1.0 is out!

A couple of nice improvements based on user feedback:

- You can now pick a custom output folder for the generated packages instead of always getting them next to the source zip. Great if you want to send them straight to your DIM watched folder.

- Fixed the naming prefix on generated packages so it follows Daz3D's official convention properly (was using a reserved prefix before, now fixed).

Thanks to everyone who tried it out and sent feedback so far, really appreciated! Grab the update from the download link above.

Previews update

What's new in v1.0.1:

- Added support for two additional zip structures commonly found in third-party Daz3D products, thanks to a community contribution:

- Content folder nested inside another custom-named folder instead of being at the root (e.g. ProductFolder/Content/…)

- Known Daz folders (People, Runtime, data…) found deep inside a custom-named folder with no Content folder at all (e.g. ProductFolder/My Library/People/…)

- Fixed an edge case where a sibling folder next to Content (such as a Documentation folder with license/readme files, common on Renderosity/RenderHub) would incorrectly cause detection to fail.

DazPackager v1.2.0 is out!

Optionally auto-delete the source after a successful package, and save a full run log to a text file.
README also fully updated to cover everything the tool now does.

DazPackager v1.3.0 is out!

Fixed a detection bug affecting some products with loose preview/readme files at the zip root, extracted-folder scanning now matches zip scanning, and dropping a folder full of zips onto the app now automatically batches them instead of failing.
Console window also stays open after a drag-and-drop run so you can read the result.
