Some more to think about...

2 threads are good but I think most of us would prefer to have a forum or subforum.

Does anyone know anything about setting up forums? I did a very simple one 10-15 years ago for my cohort from Uni using Simple Machines software which is free.

Another thought was maybe we could find another forum that is willing to host a sub forum? Maybe somewhere like Fantasie Attics where many of us are likely to already be members.

I would hate to think that the mission at Hivewire which was to unite the Poser and Daz community would be lost or for it to descend into wrangling over what we are going to do.

I hadn't put anything forward earlier as Cath said she had something in mind. 

Can we set up polls on Rendo and if so is it worth doing to give everyone a voice?

I worry that threads here disappear quickly because of the the way Renderosity's forums work...let me know your thoughts. I would rather we work this out together by cooperating and teamwork...if needed I'm quite happy to request that this thread be merged into the other one. I'm sure Red Phantom would be able to help us organise this.

I don't think there's a way to merge the 2 threads without the devs help. I can move one of these to the other forum if you want so they're together. I don't know if that will help with anything.

But a forum set up for Hivewarians would be better than the way these Rendo forums are structured. They are so hard to navigate and topics here just disappear into the interwebs..

While I understand, and agree with, the idea and desire to get a forum of our own here, I find that there is a problem.

Hivewire 3D is a Vendor here. So, if the old forums were given a new home here in their own sub-forum, they'd have to make such sub-forums available to all the vendors. As much as Renderosity might want to do it, it really isn't something they can afford to do.

Considering how quiet things can get in the forums here, maybe we should move in and wake the neighborhood up? At least until the trolls roll in and ruin it all.

Finally got a chance to sign up over there.  Waiting on approval. 

So I am going to look at reviving several 3d products that were sooo close to being finished.... Licensing has been great the last ten plus years for me but it's going through a rough stage the last year or so thanks to AI and the orange thing's tariffs... likely I will do some posts and see what interests you all the most.

Thanks Sunfire.  Not sure right now on the Poser version. I may them do them as separate products.   I just finally installed Poser 13 for Mac that I was given and the little bit I did with  it, I didn't like the way Superfly there is rendering Harry. Probably need to mess with it more but I'd rather not redo my base Harry Poser Superfly shader again. What version are you using? Do you mainly use Superfly or Firefly?

13 is my current go to and I mainly use Superfly.

Poser Pro 2014 and Firefly are still my goto.

Thanks Anim8dtoon!  Yes Silver Dapple is one name for this coloring.  I'm just calling him a chocolate palomino.The set will also include deep rich golden palomino coloring options too.

Actually Whisper has the cremello coloring option as well as blue, brown and gold eye color options. I do call the coat gold in the Whisper product but it is totally cremello coloring and you can totally use them on any breed/body shape for Harry- I have many times. https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/123519/hivewire-whisper

When you say you need a Saturn outfit and biblical outfit for Dawn and Dusk do you have any images? So Poser Firefly users- what version(s) of Poser are you using?

13 is a good medium place for me.

I mainly still use Poser Pro 2014 (P10 Branch) or Poser Pro 2012 (P9 branch).  I have P11 installed, but rarely use it (not fond of it).

I wish I were better at rigging so I could help. I would love to see these come to the store.

I've been getting back to my roots and doing a number of extreme 3D projects not involving computers lately.  I am nearing completion of a project I have been working on and off on for the past year.  I have semi-documented steps and progress with photos.  I am posting the first batch of what will likely be 4 photo log groups.

I have Poser 11. i'd like to get up to date, but now isn't the time for me to buy an upgrade. I hope there will come such a time.

I'm playing beat the clock. I got extraordinarily lucky last time I had to buy a computer, and caught a dramatic sale that allowed me to purchase the next tier up in gaming laptops, instead of the low end. It's reasonably pleasant to work on, instead of being just too underpowered for what I was trying to do with it.

Alas, with the competition for hardware from the A-allegedly-I direction, it would now cost me almost double what I paid for this laptop to replace it. So far it's running fine, but it is probably about 2/3 of the way through a typical lifespan. The price for a replacement is now unreasonable for my finances, unless I can make this laptop pay about half the price of the next.

Previous efforts to make a business out of my graphics work kept getting blown out of the water by major health problems that prevent me from getting much work done -- once mine, but more often my mother's. I'm retirement age myself.

I'm now reasonably happy with my basic ability to model ordinary objects in Blender and 3D-Coat, and I'm presently about halfway toward thinking my ability to texture in 3D-Coat is acceptable. If I can achieve sufficiently good modelling and painting soon, maybe I can make the 3D tools pay for themselves.

I'd been quietly putting together a library of Daz and Poser stuff since the early teens, but I wasn't expecting to work in this market, because for a while I thought it was probably going away. Poser looked like it was withering, till Bondware picked it up. Daz let all their other software die, and then didn't make any publicly visible moves to make Studio display adequately sized on a HiDPI monitor for years. (And it still isn't! They've just gotten to the point where, maybe, they could get a start on it. Meanwhile I've had traditionally short-handed open source graphics software that's been useable on HiDPI for about a decade).

So a few years ago I said, "I'm likely to lose all these renderable models if I don't move them", and started exporting everything to Blender (which I mostly don't like much, but which is reasonably capable and the price is right). You know how big old libraries are. So that's what I've been doing when I'm not concentrating much. When I have more time to spend rendering, I'll probably start off in Cycles. I'm not all that fond of Cycles either, and would rather render in Luxcorerender or Octane, but I don't have time to work on that right now. I figure if I insist on moving the works out of the software they were intended for, it's my problem to make them look good afterward.

A-not-so-I was something of a surprise to me. I don't know what it'll do to the Daz-Poser hobbyist market; but, having experimented with image generators: I don't mind adding it to the toolbox for postwork, some kinds of backgrounds and textures, and the like, but it doesn't provide the level of control that 3D does, or pencils and paintbrushes, and I would never accept it as my sole means of producing pictures. It doesn't satisfy the same impulse. Mostly it's given me a time limit: it's made the next hardware purchase too expensive unless I can sell work.

I'd probably primarily be aiming at the Unreal and Unity markets, rather than Daz or Poser. But if the latter survive ... of course I'll make a few things for myself. Why not for publication?

Every so often I look at the prices of storage now that the old inventory is gone. I imagine that some other family health disaster will come along and derail the next commercial effort. Then what?

A significantly cheaper computer, good enough for coding, but not for serious rendering. Linux, not accursed Windows. And the Daz/Poser library doesn't entirely go to waste, because I can use it the way Poser's creator envisioned it: as a way to pose models to sketch and paint from.

If I get to keep working in 3D, I promise to learn to rig. I've done really simple proof-of-concept rigging in Blender (hey, my seaweed bends!), but that's not even close to good rigging for models that have to move convincingly like creatures with endoskeletons.
