After all this years, Renderosity has still not fixed its search function for the store.
Look for an item and sot it by "Newest to Oldest" and you'll get results, that have nothing to, with what you're searching for.
My example:
search Hair, newest to oldest
Thanks for bringing this up. We actually went through a pretty large recategorization effort last year, but it's probably time for us to take another look at some areas and see what may need cleaning up.
A lot of what shows up in search results depends on how a product is categorized when it's uploaded. If a product ends up in the wrong category, it can sometimes appear in searches where it doesn't really seem to belong. With the number of products on the site, that does happen from time to time.
We'll take a look at the search results you're seeing, especially when sorting by "Newest to Oldest," and see if there are any issues we can address. We appreciate the feedback.
Some of the results are because the vendors mention hair in the description (either hair not included or crediting the hair they used), and the search engine picks up on that.
Available on Amazon for the Kindle E-Reader Monster of the North and The Shimmering Mage
Today I break my own personal record for the number of days for being alive.
Check out my store here or my free stuff here
I use Poser 14 and Windows 11
i would very much love it if in the hair category textures vs actual models were separated into two different hair categories, as wading through page after page of just textures rather than actual hair is a bit tedious...
i get the engine 'reads' keywords, but there are things, in general, that a key word will not pull up because it is lacking in the description, thus it cuts both ways... and trying to guess what key word might pull up an intended result can be problematic...
i think, too, part of the issue is that, especially for older items, that vendors have not gone back in to recategorize their products to take advantage of newer engine revamps. i mean i still run across old 'buy one, get one' text in descriptions that was only actually applicable when the item was first released ---- like 10 years ago... heh
i know Rendo can't force vendors to tend their stores, so to speak, but maybe i friendly reminder or encouragement could help?
This is something that we are actively working on but as one can imagine, it is a very large endeavor. If I or other admins see that something is not in the right place, we do correct it. I will add hair textures to my list of priorities and get started on making sure those products are placed correctly.
Cheers :)
Tima
thank you so very much, Tima!! i know you and your team try very hard to give us a great shopping experience, and i will say that i personally have noticed some of the clean-up and appreciate it. it is hard to come in after someone else and try to pick up everything that got left behind all at once... :))

Vendors don't even have the option of re-categorising their stores, so they cannot fix that particular problem until Renderosity allows it.
auh, i wasn't aware of that. i could have sworn that many moons ago when i was vendoring that i was able to edit a few things, but that was over 20 years ago and i might be mistaken...
thanks for the info!! it does seem like something that vendors should be able to do, but that's just yet another opine in a massive sea of them :))
