Subject: Aniblocks in Carrara

DUDU.car ( ) posted Mon, 29 December 2014 at 11:47 AM · edited Tue, 23 June 2026 at 1:21 PM

Yesterday, I opened exceptionally DAZ Studio… ![:-
I placed the anibloks in the timeline and tried to export animation to recover it in Carrara.
NOTHING WORKS! :'(
Collada and FBX exports: nothing in the timeline of Carrara !
.BVH export: many keyframes, but the character remains fixed on the starting pose.
Did somebody already try out that ?
(I use C.8 ).
Thank you.

P.S. I found a work around but not ideal : Aniblock import into Poser and record it as .pz2.

With C8.5 you can import the aniblocks directly; no comment on results, or apply the aniblocks in Studio to your figure, save as a scene, then open in C8.5; I do this quite often and works well enough I bought animate2. Be sure to bake to key frames first.

Collada or FBX wouldn't work; I'd think, but BVH should work.

A good thing in C8.5 ?

What do you mean by "to bake to keyframes" , that's perhaps the issue with the .bvh export ?

Do you have some keyframes in Carrara c8.5 wich you can edit ?

Is it a plugin or is it included in C8.5 ?

What is animate 2 ?

Sorry for all these questions, but I don't know nothing in DS ...

Thanks.

In studio you have to bake the aniblocks to key frame, this may be why the BVH export isn't working for you. Right click the aniblock line to get the option to bake to key frames.

file_1ff8a7b5dc7a7d1f0ed65aaa29c04b1e.jpYes you will have key frames to edit, but there are a lot of them, as in a continues line.

Aniblock import is part of C8.5.

Animate 2 is the app/plugin for building and editing aniblocks in Studio. A necessity when using genesis g2 because aniblocks are made for mil4 figures.

Like I've said before Studio is an excellent helper app for Carrara, it shouldn't need to be but the further DAZ develops carrara{lol} the more necessary it is.

Thanks, I try that soon !

If I undersand well, I don't need Animate 2 since I only use Gen 3 & 4.

Aniblocks in pz2 in Carrara works very well with Gen 3 too.

Thanks again.

OK Stan, it was that !

I loaded the .bvh on M3 figure, that works fine !

Thanks, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody !!!

I've invested a bit in animate and aniblocks, I've always been more of a modder then a builder. I can use animate to string aniblocks and fix transitions to make longer animations.
