Hi there

I have updated my system to a Quad Core intel and GS 8400 Nvidia Grafix card..
And 4 GB mem..
All works fine
BUT now i reinstalled Car 6 Pro
And the work windows are black until i click it
AND the tools "rotate" dont change to "scale" until i move the OBJ...
So a dont see a screen tool update and the window is black?
Anybody know whats up ?
I have latest drivers etc etc ..

I never had this before
Thnx in advance

Looks like a video drive problem... do you have the newest drive from NVidia?

Wasn't there a patch for Carrara that also had to be installed right after it's release?  Did you remember that?

Just a thought...and you have probably already checked it...but, have you gone into your video card properties to make sure everything is turned on and set right for your carrara setup?   I'm not sure what the carrara requirements are but I  know that Daz has limitations in studio.

They have a toll free number for the states..not sure  if they have an international one or not...but once, when I needed tech help I called them and they knew right away what my problem was and told me how to fix it..But they don't work on weekends...so Monday would be the soonest you could call them.

I had that problem for awhile too, and I think the problem was the GL settings, so I set Carrara to use software rendering as opposed to GL and that did the trick.  But this all happened on a Vista system, not XP, if that makes any diff.

Thats how my DS works and I do have an XP system..so its worth a try I would think.

Good luck BarCode!

Jiggle the camera, if it comes back then turn anti alis OFF on vid card. Try turning it off anyways andsee if that fixes it.

It's a known issue at Daz and unfortunatly they don't plan on fixing it.

BAR-CODE ( ) posted Sun, 10 February 2008 at 4:08 PM

yeah its something in that range ...
Nice to know they wont fix it ...no wonder they sell everything for 1.99  😉
If i cant  fix it im changing the Vid card .. i have to i cant work with jiggling camera's for a view..
Thnx all

Jiggling the camera is a sign that it is the anti alising. Like I said turn the anti alising off and it should work right.

There is something else that was discovered too on another thread here. Sorry I don't have it book marked but maybe a search for Black screen will find it.

I had a similar problem and the fix was to turn down the hardware acceleration of the video card . Its simple to do so its worth a try. And as someone said , use software render rather than opengl if opengl is an issue .
