Now that I'm using carrara 6 studio I understand the limits, but my question is after loading the reference image and saving - then reopening the item there is no reference image. If I want it then I need to import it from the disk. Shouldn't it be in there? Also should I be saving to: save all internally, use local settings or save all externally?

Are you talking about bringing a background image (jpeg or?) into a  working plane within the Vertex Room?

I have a feeling that you need to try a different explanation perhaps?

The semantics in 3D are most confusing so do not feel guilty.
