I think it's a good policy.  I'm updating my thumbnails.

And, maybe, as Shonner and I have differed before , not allow GUNS! to be shown.

A cry from a monority of ? one!

My wife and I have been involved, as artists, in attending and even running Life drawing classes for ?30 years.

There are some odd perceptions of visual acceptabilities around the world. I find say the DAZ adds for Vic 4 more "pornographic" than most bare body visuals we see.

Anyway, not trying to get the decission changed, just pointing out that these decissions are often based on some odd interpretation that can not see the natural beauty of a human the same as they would a flower or an animal.

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

I think the problem was not the nudity per se, but the sheer number of T&A thumbs being
posted. I have no objection to REAL artistic nudity but I DO object to having tits and such
shoved in my face via thumbs. I had to turn on the nudity flag in self defense and as a result,
have likely missed many TASTEFUL images. People who do artistic nudity don't NEED to shove
that in people's faces since people will look at a good image. I like this new policy and may
be able to turn the N flag off in a few days. (I expect a bit of rebellion from the T&A crew first)

Depends on what the guns are doing, bwtr.  I'm more fearfull though of rolled tape dispensers.

I'm not offended by nudity in images, but I do often find it... well... just kind of embarrassing. Lots of people (including everyone at DAZ) have an immature image of women, and they flaunt it like it's something to be proud of. News flash: little girls are not women, and women sometimes wear clothes.

Well, at least in thumbnails.

Maybe I'm showing my age(49), but I see no problem with the new policy. As a father of 3 and proud grandfather of one adorable 3 year old, I prefer the new approach. I don't have a problem with artistic nudity but would prefer not being slammed in the face with it when I check the galleries. As for firearms, never met one that hurt someone without a little help from a human, might be wrong....

Graphic Observations: Many problems can be solved by reading the manual Not all answers are equal Some problems don't need answers

A large number of the items on sale in the store are character products which include full body skin textures. The purpose of the nudity was to show us the details - there are legitimate artistic situations in which nude figures could be used. I never felt the nudity was in my face. If  it was porn-ish looking I just didn't look. But now that decision is being made for us. Its called censorship.

Maybe Renderosity could advise the Vatican about the new no nudity policy. I'd love to see all the Michelangelo figures in the Sistine Chapel with little red Bikini tops and bottoms on them!

On the other side I do have to commend Rendo for includin violence in the new policy. If they're going to practice censorship then violence is more worth censoring than pictures of humans san clothing.

Hi Metabog, The thumbnails nudity request is really just a courtesy for our members. Many folks access Renderosity while at work and employers aren't to happy to see bare breasts or more popping up on company time. (there have been complaints to Renderosity about just that) The regular images can be as naked as a jay bird, 'Rosity is just requesting that the nudity, whether for the product showcase or gallery, be disguised preventing awkward moments for members or families. ;) Mark

Ok yes I see what you are saying, I've been in the same situation myself.
Well then never mind about my rant, LOL!

I've kept very quite here since my go-around over the whole nude fairy ban...but I said it before and I still say: there is nothing wrong with "nudity", especially when done tastefully and/or in comedy, and I see absolutely nothing wrong in the "no nudity in thumbs" rule for that actually makes perfect sense, after all this is a Publicly Viewed site and not a private 'check IDs at the door' porno site or nudie bar. I for one have ALWAYS obayed the 'no nude thumb' rule, of which you will find at virtualy every site except perhaps Rotica (which is a 'check IDs at the door' nudie bar site).

Banning nudity from thumbnails but still allowing the image posted, and marked so people can be free to filter, is just common sense, good neighbor, and proper ediquate...I too like to browse from work where I do not want someone stopping by my desk and seeing a bunch of nude thumbnails displayed because someone forgot to flip the nudity tag...people make mistakes, I know I do and have (just recently at PoserPros I might add), and, I have several nudes in my galleries (not here...not anymore...well, actually I think I left a couple up just to spite those that attacked me).

Anyway, its no different then when the Video Stores (if you old enough to remember those) would put all the porno in the back room and hang a curtain over the door. Those of us who wished to rent porn (MMmmmmm, porn) could do so, and yet an English babysitter could still bring her employer's children in the front door to rent a Disney movie too...

...anyway, I don't make posts at Rendo anymore, the mods will attack me....bye

7/11 covers their girly mags at their front counters.  Because not everyone browsing/buying from them needs to see all that.  Renderosity made the right choice here.  A lot of people get offended when they are told they have to go to the adult section of a store (even those that are grown adults, but act like they are 15 still) to view girly pics, or have to click twice now instead of just once to see boobies.  But everyone knows that half of Earth's population is always in the wrong and can never be pleased in life.

And when their accused of posting "child pornography" for posting a pic of Victoria 3 as a nude firefly faerie surrounded by fireflies in the night and the nudity flag turned ON.

"Ya cant please everyone, so gotta please......"

But seriously,  I don't like strawberry ice cream, I do like chocolate ice cream, therefore I would be offended if every time I go into a 31 Flavors and order chocolate ice cream and they say I HAVE to have a squirt of strawberry flavor on it.
Same thing with galleries, not everyone wants to see T&A, all posts have a thumbnail, therefore it only makes sense to have a No Nudity in thumbs rule....unless one was to set up a separate gallery exclusively for nudes, but then there would be fuss of "Segragation" and "They get more traffic over there" and ....well I don't know 'and' but they would think of something to bitch about....so a No Nudity in thumbs rule along with a Nudity Tag all seems to make perfect sense.
....but then there are those who think the 9/11 was an "inside job"....hu? nuts every where I guess...

 :?
am I still here?

The problem with posters clicking the nudity radio button when posting nude pic/thumbnails was that a lot of the visitors here were not setting their profiles to block the nude pics/thumbnails who were complaining about them showing up on the screens at work/home/anywhere/etc.

So now, the plan is you get served vanilla by default unless you do one extra click for strawberry, chocolate, batgwano, etc, instead.  Of course, this only upsets the masses who are interested in shoving just rocky road down our throats.

Oh wow, ya, that's a hard one, its a total No-Brainer and to resolve will certainly require a collage degree, a bachelor's degree, a few wise men, and a couple hefty bouncers to figure out:

Solution: Set the Default member and visitor profiles to have the nudity filter turned ON. In other words, set the site so that ALL nudity and other fillers are ON unless a member visits their profile page and physically unchecks the filters to view such smut and violence.

This would actually serve 2fold, for you see if they are too dumn, lazy, or what ever to visit their profile page to turn ON filters then they certainly will not figure out how to turn them OFF.

You can put my $500 check for figuring out this solution in the mail, address it to "Ye Wise One"

It may have been fixed already when php was put in place on the servers?  But  a lot of visitors signed up before the software update and their default profiles may have carried over.  I lot of people complained about that software update and how it changed their galleries.  For all I know, more people now are posting to the galleries here than ever before and all has been quiet on the western front.
