Just testing out the fresnel function built into Carrara 5. This image shows fresnel going from 0% on the left sphere to 100% on the right sphere. Increasing about 20% each step. Same settings are in reflection and transparency. 30% value in each.

This image shows fresnel only no transparency this time.

Definitely makes the texture look better.

No need to think outside the box....

Been doing some glass, metal and liquid tests myself. The marble and glass have the same shader/fresnel properties but look different because the refraction is concentrated in the sphere. Fun to play...

Mark has the right idea for fresnel use.

Nice example Mark. I was testing the settings and the degree of change per setting. People were saying that it wasn't working correctly. I feel it is. And its surprisingly fast. Comparing to the old fresnel plugin from the now defunct zmorphics.

It is good to see fresnel shading as addition to essential for renderer. I still see something missings: 1. Micro aura without glow shader 2. light-bent effect outside fresnel.

Nice that it is fast...honestly some of the shaders just don't look right w/o fresnel. The fresnel in SS shaders looked pretty good, but haven't personally used it.

No need to think outside the box....

Mark, I was wondering if you would be kind enough to share some tips on how you modeled the wine in the glass to look so fluid and natural? Awesome job! Thanks, Steama
