Subject: Can anyone recommend any good plug-ins?

I already have powerpack. I was wondering if there were any other good plug-ins?

Oh sure, first you buy 4 Pro then you continue to buy plug-ins so you can add Pro features to the application. There is no shortage of them. Stick around there are like 2 or 3 new plug-ins announced a week on this forum.

InfoCentral is right there are no shortage of awesome plugins for Carrara, that give some very pro features. The powerpack was a good place to start. I'd also recommend any of Julien's plugins: http://julien.chaplier.free.fr/ Especially his ArchiTools plugin which adds another modeler to Carrara. Replica is also a great plugin. I'd also suggest Potentializer, and Metamesh, great plugins: http://www.kawachi.zaq.ne.jp/kurozuka/akurodigital/ Whats nice about most of the plugins for Carrara is that they are inexpensive and you can get what you want. There are tons of plugin developers out there for Carrara now.

And pay you will. There are a real shortage of free plug-ins for Carrara. Hey everyone lets list all the free plug-ins for Carrara...hummm...

There were a bunch of free plugins. But they have all been intergrated into Carrara. Zekaric, made a free duplicate plugin recently. And Shoestring graphics, and all the other developers, allow unlimited free upgrades so if you buy version one of anything grooves, and he releases 25 versions, you don't have to pay a dime, even if he increases the price. Good Stuff!

I think you should visit Digital Carvers Guild for Carrara plugins also. I think Anything Grows, Anything Grooves and Shader Ops are almost indispensible. No, they are not free but plugins for higher end aps can go for as much as Carrara itself and these are mostly only $30. I really appreciate Eric Winemiller and the other plugin writers for making them available at such a low cost. It also gives you flexibility to purchase only what you need. Maybe InfoCentral can put up a link to all the free plugins he has written.

I am alway very impressed with the extreme reasonable prices for Carrara plugins. Well, at least from the 'small' developers. The expensive ones are in the C4Pro version, so that's kinda cheap too, now.

I still have to learn to use some of the plugins I bought enthousiastically, so don't overdo it, like I did. Sometimes a plugin is like a new application (like the excellent ArchiTools), so it takes time to get everything from it. But taking that time prevents looking for more plugins, when you already have what you need, without knowing it.

The plugin Talent from The Creator is also needed to make things work. That's a free one, but not everybody can get it...

;-)
