http://www.eovia.com/demos/carrara/carrara.asp Check out the alien one. A great example of the power of the new IK. Brian

ok.. I've been gobbling up these little glimpses into Carrara 4's new features... But, frankly, I'm about ready to see what I can do with it myself... ;o)

It is nice to see that Carrara got improved with IK.

The more I see of C4 the more impressive it gets. Apropos the walk cycle, I particularly like "don't forget to rotate your pelvis and twist with charm your hips". :-)

In case you won't be satisfied with new carrara terrains you can always switch to Vue d'Esprit 5. Its new procedural terrains are simply amazing ! Check the link

Vidar ( ) posted Wed, 20 October 2004 at 2:18 PM

or use terragen, mojoworld and bryce like me.:)

Nicholas86 ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 4:06 PM

OOOOR use Carrara:) which does use procedural terrains:) fractal based actually... Brian

Vidar ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 4:16 PM

yep,i really cant wait to play with the new terrain stuff in carrara(im always satisfied with carrara) and btw,i had vue 4 and it always crashed on my win 2000 system last year so i sold it,now i have win xp pro but i will never use vue again,to much trouble, you can make the same stuff in carrara studio 4 pro now,i think.i use terragen for making sky backrounds and hdris, mojoworld for making planets(what else)and last time i used bryce was at the end of 2002 but then i bought carrara and everything changed.i need carrara studio 4 pro now.:)

Nicholas86 ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 5:27 PM

I have it:) And Pro is great. You may not even need terragen for skies anymore. And rumor has it they plan to improve the skies even more in C5. So:) YAY!

Vidar ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 5:33 PM

you have it i want it.:) now terragen is my hdri generator.:)

Nicholas86 ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 5:42 PM

You know you can make HDRI maps in Carrara right? Using the spherical camera?

Vidar ( ) posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 12:11 AM ยท edited Fri, 22 October 2004 at 12:12 AM

i never did this in carrara.in terragen i have a plugin caller sopack,so i can save a image as hdr file, then i have to import it in hdrshop and make some additional stuff for later use.
if you have a tut for hdri creation in cs then please give me a link.:)

Yes please Brian! I'd be interested in how you get hdris from Carrara too.

Nicholas86 ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 6:24 AM

I wish I had the link. I've tried to locate it. But essentially you use the spherical camera and render out a scene at various light intensity levels. Then use hdrshop to merge them.

Vidar ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 6:37 AM

okay,then i think i know how to do it.thanks.:)

Ah yes, hadn't thought of that! Thanks.
