Subject: Newbie question

Hi, I have Carrara v1,1 from a british magazine and am trying to do some subdividing.
I created a rock with Bryce and exported it in OBJ format.
I import it in Carrara but it appears only in the Assemble Room.
As the edges are very hard, I'd like to subdivide it.
I know that I have to select it, go to Selection Mode and apply a subdivide. My problem is that I can't import it in the Modeling Room. How can I do it.
Please excuse my english.Thank you

Double click on it just like if it had been modeled in Carrrara. This should take you to the Modeling Room. Once you are there look for a command under the Edit menu that says "Convert to Other Modeler...", then switch your model to the virtex modeler and subdivide to your hearts content.

Thank you so much, I'm in love with this software. I'm gonna work with it some time and decide if I'm gonna buy it or simply stay with Bryce and Poser.

The only problem is C1.1 doesn't have subdivision! You need C2 or 3 for that. If you download the demo, you'll get the idea.

It dose not have subdivision like C2 and C3 have. But you can still subdivide a mesh by using the subdivide command. It doesn't quite work the same way since it changes your mesh unlike the slider implementation, that only softens the mesh without creating new polygons.

Ok, thanks again. I'll use Wings3d to subdivide. Michel
