I had so much fun making the sun in the previous post, I jazzed it up a tad. The clouds suck though. This took 15 minutes to render at 1280X1024, lots of lighting effects fired up. -Kix

Very nice! I don't know if I'm so into terrain latelly (and still so much to explore) I'll sugest to use terrain tolls (crater maybe) around the spaceship to mark the impact in to the ground.

That's got to be the thing I like most about Carrara. In Bryce my default setting was everything off (no "volumetric world" for me!) In Carrara my default setting is everything ON...light through transparency, indirect lighting, soft shadows and all. And it still renders fast enough so I can do a 480x640 as a "preview" while working. I spent an evening doing physics experiments. Unfortunately I didn't save any of the images generated. Lots of "white room" stuff with aiming a spotlight at a transparent object and seeing what happens.
