Subject: Anything Grooves and VectorStyle

Hello All, I'm curious if the displacement mapping of Anything Grooves would be rendered out through VectorStyle? Any feedback is appreciated Regards Chris

Well anything grooves actually changes the geometry so yes it would. I would assume to see the effects of the plugin, a good quality setting would likely be required for rendering although I don't know much about vectorstyle since I don't use it. Anyone else want to pipe in here? Brian

It works great. Animations with complex meshes/groove objects take awhile to process though. Mark

Nicholas86, I know that the geometry is changed, but I thought that only happended when the object was rendered. I think the following statement from Eric's site indicates the geometry modification can be extracted to a mesh object, so that it is not a rendered effect anymore: "Convert Deformed Object to Mesh changes a deformed object to a simple primitive so it can be duplicated again and again without the deformer recalculating for each instance." I can clarify this with Eric. Mark, Do you mean you have rendered Anything Grooves objects through VectorStyle? Thanks Guys, Chris

Chris,

I haven't used VectorStyle, but Anything Grooves is geometry all the time so should work fine with VectorStyle. The only potential issue I can see is if VectorStyle does not go to the same Level of Detail setting as the normal renderers. If so Anything Grooves Primitives might generate their Preview Size in the final render instead of going full resolution. If that happens, you can change the Preview Size = Full Resolution.

Best regards,

Here is a rendered Grooves object through VectorStyle. Zoom in and take a look. This was created with AnythingGrooves mesh density settings of 128. You can set it for much higher densities. Mark

Mark, Great sample! Thanks, Chris
