My name is Melanie Fountain.   I currently live in the Sierra foothills in California...very beautiful place I might add!  I work full time and pursue my art in my spare time.  I have hopes that some day I will work on my art full time and have some spare time. ;)

Growing up my grandmother, aunt, and uncle were all artists; therefore, artistic influences were a part of life all through my childhood.  I began working in acrylics and oils as a teenager then started experimentling with pastels and charcoal a few years later.  I feel in love with pastels and the way they work.  I still find it amazing.

I attended college art classes, yet my primary style is self-taught.  I attend paint-in's around California where the influence and techniques of artists are shared along with a great time.  I have conducted paint-in's, workshops, and private lessons.  Now that my youngest children are almost grown I have been able to spend more time focusing on my art.

Art is a very wonderful thing.  There is a magic in art...the magic of putting emotions into a visual form.
