Description
Android 347610A quietly climbed to one of the upper viewing landings of their spacecraft, carrying with her a precious gift she received from a human, her maintainer.
"A," as she was called, always marveled at the thought of a human heart, but she knew this was something she could never have. "A" required recharging at fixed intervals to keep herself "alive." Humans did not need to be routinely plugged in for their necessary energy. Humans just had to eat and their bodies did the rest. Humans have an internal power engine to keep them "alive," and the heart is, more or less, the center of this. No heart, no life.
While she sat silently on the platform in the stillness of the sleep time, "A" silently thanked her maintainer for this gift, and she believed she understood more what it meant to "have a heart." Surely kindness and understanding were part of having a heart, and now she had her very own "heart" to remind her of this.

Of coarse the question arises, do you need a heart to appreciate the heart. And I wonder if she has discovered a favourite colour.
