I had planned to do this to celebrate the olympic games but world events here in todays act of terrorism seem to make this rather pointless.. I share something I read just last night .. Words from many years ago seem so apt today.. Thankyou to all those who care..
To give security to these countless homes, they must be shielded from the two giant marauders, war and tyranny. We all know the frightful disturbances in which the ordinary family is plunged when the curse of war swoops down upon the bread-winner and those for whom he works and contrives. The awful ruin of Europe, with all its vanished glories, and of large parts of Asia glares us in the eyes. When the designs of wicked men or the aggressive urge of mighty States dissolve over large areas the frame of civilized society, humble folk are confronted with difficulties with which they cannot cope. For them all is distorted, all is broken, even ground to pulp.
When I stand here this quiet afternoon I shudder to visualize what is actually happening to millions now and what is going to happen in this period when famine stalks the earth. None can compute what has been called "the unestimated sum of human pain." Our supreme task and duty is to guard the homes of the common people from the horrors and miseries of another war. We are all agreed on that.
Winston Churchill

Danny, its good to see you're safe. My prayers go out to the victims and their families. In facing this daunting task may we all have the resolve of the great Sir Winston. -jay
Amazing work of art, your words are so true. Excellent... ~V~
Words of wisdom... Didn't know that guy was so clever. I thought this words were from you, first, before reading the end. We are all with you, english people, today... Our hearts and souls...
Let's hope we ascend beyond this crazyness, Danny!!
Dear Danny, I can remember that day that you took this shot, it was by castle Hoensbroek when you visited me here in Holland last February. We al saw a person in there, A fireman....no doubt....maybe it has a reason, who knows....I was so happy that you phones me after I text you......I was really worried when I saw all the news on TV....but after I hear your voice I was sure that you was safe......My deepest sympathy goes to all the people that lost their lives in London by the terrorist attack, and to all others !! I wish all people a lot strength, because it is a real disaster.....it will be a hard time.......This shows how important it is to have friends.... Life can be end so soon, so make each day count.... Ilona
Thoughts with the Common People...such Cowardly acts have come and gone...but...leave Me very sad.
Amazing Your words are all too true I try to live each day to the fullest It leaves me sad also Vote n hugs Susan~
Danny, our heritage and spirit has, and will, bring us through all adversities. We have strength, we have courage, we have truth, we have (relative) democracy. We have been through times of war and have arisen as the victors...but then we knew who our enemies were and as evil as they were at least they knew when they were beaten into submission. We open our doors to the abused from other nations in the belief that they accept our unconditional kindness and support...no other country supports Human Rights as we in the UK do. To abuse us will only create an uprising of anger and the desire for revenge. But we must retain our dignity and the belief that we shall not be slaves to violence. We are better than that...have faith my friend. Pete
wise words from mr churchill.... unfortuantely words people soon forgot..the fickleness of man...sympathies to those victims and their families in affected by this diseaster...but churchill also taught us that british resolve.. yesterday we celebrated the in pride.. today we mourn... :)...))) nice tribute dan
Danny, I sit here for the longest time and have no "proper" words. I cry for you and with you. I wish Churchill were still here to guide us for he saved the world much like God saved mankind. Bless you all and know that we love you. Tom
I would like to think these fireworks celebrate the brave work of the emergency services in saving so many lives to day & also celebrate our freedom as a nation. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, but also to the families of those who lose there lives every day in countries such as Iraq & Afghanistan, while they attempt to create a society with all the freedoms that we enjoy, and will continue to enjoy, in the face of the extremist coward.
It is hard to believe that in this day and age we are no more a civilized world than we were then. We are just more technical about it. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful words of Churchill. Our world is becoming more and more violent. It is seen all around us; not just in acts of terrorism. My heart goes out to all who died and were injured in your land at the hands of such evil people/animals.
i have no wise words to add, only a quiet empty sadness... hugz...
Good to hear that you are well Dan...so sad to hear about this terrible event...my prayers go out to your country! This image is so fitting...Aloha to you and yours!
good to see that you are ok..it is a sad day
TERRORIST ACT OR COWARDLY ACT?? ONE AND THE SAME. NO WAR , NO BOMB, IS GOOD FOR THE HUMANKIND. PEACE BE WITH ALL...... ONE HAS TO RISE UP FOR IT....... PEACE!!!
Keep up the spirit Danny! Fight with prayer!
My prayers go out to all affected by this act of terrism!! God Bless!!!
Wise words indeed! My prayers are with the people of England.
A great man indeed was he. Wise words indeed.
The cynical battlespace of signs watched cheaply glares at the purpose of man. Others torn, shattered lie on the ground, Glasnost, perestroika... It was 25 years ago I recalled the lessons of the IRA terror, "never let your bomb go unexploded, set up your headquarters across from the main police station, hide your homemade rockets in a dog cart" to avoid the paranoia of the cocaine wars. There is a no man's land for the citizen where both sides take lethal swipes at him but none succeed because they are so focussed on their hate for each other. Into that breech I walked and rode my motorcycle, stopping at all the dairy roads, finding the ancient Rolls Royce Silver Ghost just off Flagler on 8th street not 8th avenue. Entering the Christian book shop on the square with the Churchill tank on the green to look at a copy of Bullinger's "Numbers".
I must say that the more appropriate words today would be "the UNDERestimated sum of human pain" for the reverberations of what is occuring worldwide will affect many generations to come. Such a legacy cannot go unchecked for the toll it's taking upon our little ones will set the future. Thank you for quoting this incredible historic figure and it's a shame that half a century later, it still holds true. Let the next half century see an end to terrorism/war through our vigilance today! I spoke with my husband yesterday, an officer in the US Navy, and his words: "We are ready to aid our British comrades at the word!" Our hearts and thoughts are with you!
Very moving, Danny! My thoughts and prayers go out to the people in London and all the UK! Peace!
my thoughts and prayers are by the people in London and all the UK.a deep touching tribute.
A wonderful and precise shot my friend...!!! Spectacular work fires....!!!
As I said earlier in David's image..... the news of what happen struck me to the core. It really did bring back all the horrible feelings of 9/11..... strength and perserverance.
Moving words, Danny, and it's hard to see it all happening! Beautiful tribute!
Such a beautiful capture and such a sad state of our being and times. It really breaks my heart to see the horrors that we bring upon to our earth and the senless killings for whatever belief they do it for. We are all one and a life is a life and that IS always a loss.
Dear Danny. It's so difficult to find words to qualify these terrorist acts, this cowardice without comparison. As all of you I am under the shock of what it occurred to London, and of course Danny, I also thought to you, and your friends and your family, and I was really happy that you appear on RR... If it was possible to stop the human madness, if the men could understand that they are the worst species on this planet. If we could spend as much of energy and of money for right causes and peace... humanity would go really better !!! Splendid these words of Churchill, and it would be said that they were written yesterday.... All my thoughts fo you Danny, and please, take care of you.
