"All these things have you said of beauty.
Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied,
And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.
It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears.
It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw,
But rather a garden for ever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.
People of Orphalese, beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.
But you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.
But you are eternity and your are the mirror."
Kahlil Gibran (Lebanese born American philosophical Essayist, Novelist and Poet. 1883-1931)

well this one is beautyful!congrats
Fantastic!!!! Beautiful colors, textures and design! I love it!!! And the quote is quite thought provoking! :^)
Being both the life and the veil is a heavy responsibility if one takes it too seriously. Life is short and precious, horrible and beautiful, eventually both meaningless and everlasting as our molecules are recycled through the cycles of the universe. The theme of intertwining truth and beauty has a certain appeal but the truth of the world is hatred, poverty, war, illness, and suffering and few would consider any of this beautiful except for some artistic types and mystics that find beauty in the patterns of the world. The numbness of the human spirit, overwhelmed by the realities of life, the street musician playing with the reverberations from cracked brick walls and broken glass, trying to rearrange the molecules into a more pleasing pattern for those who pass by, the fog and darkness of hot or cold evenings where the sun is not set but darkness pervades all, these are truths. The truck driver drinking coffee as he waits to be unloaded, glad that he doesn't have to exchange his warm cab for the wind and snow outside, smokes a cigarette and dreams of beauty. His dog waits inside at home, leaning against the door to detect the slightest vibration that will announce his master's arrival, and dreams of his beauty. The patterns of light and color intertwine is a very complex arrangement, perhaps a map of the universe seen from a different perspective, perhaps a guide to whatever the soul is, or maybe a picture of naked truth, reality in a different reality, cold and hot and wet and dry all at once.
G'nifty Gnarl, Viv! And a great quote, too.
