Description
This bridge crosses 'Middle Branch' south of downtown Baltimore. It's a drawbridge; the towers house the equipment to raise and lower the bascules.
This view is from Middle Branch Park at one end of the just-opened Gwynn Falls Hike/Bike path which winds in the southern portion of the city.
This is rather picturesque from this angle, but a look to left finds a whole lot of industrial buildings and a marina. Always the contrast!
I always thought this was one of the most attractive bridges in town. However, it's a real shock to drive over. Seems it's built on soil that keeps subsiding, thus the bridge keeps getting repaired and patchy. I'm sure it will all work out.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
