Description
These butcher birds started visting a month ago.
Such gorgeous and curious birds with the most beautiful whistles imaginable.
Trust has developed and now the female in this shot waits at the window for me every morning, suprisingly not for food.
I got a few quick and dirty shots of her in this very relaxed and content mood, she is turning out to be a good model so far :)
One day when I replace my dead camera I will be looking forward to capturing these bird in their full glory and detail.

The composite isn't a very good cut as I lost patience getting a perfect cut with that horrible texturized white background.
The beauty was in the moment, I'm not sure if I captured it right though.
Any suggestion for improvment?

I like the cut. It's very unusual.I especially love the big black eye so close up like that. The white textured background could be softened if you don't like it.Just use the smudge/blur tool in photoshop.Have a nice day!
you did pretty good... work large, take your time, try using the softening tool around the edges & yeah, the background choice could've been better but all in all you did just fine :]
Beautiful work here, fantastic !!! :o)
Thanks for the tips, I will spend some more time it and definately get into the smudging tool more, which granted I don't use anywhere near enough. I'm going to setup some green screens in some weeks around where this bird hangs so as to make life easier in changing the background. Working big is unfortunatley out of my domain with this bolox little sony cybershot with 72dpi JPG as the originals - YUK!! It's terrible trying to focus in the daylight with these horrible mini LCD screens. Not sure which camera to save for yet? Olympus 300? Anyone have any recommendations here?
Exquisite....the beauty and the mood captured.... unforgetable. I love this pix. Thank you. unicorn1776@mybluelight.com
Sometimes creating your own backgounds works much better.Or you could filter this one right out so the indents are not so visible. You did capture the moment perfectly.I can see the happiness in the expression. You should be able to get many ideas ona camera purchase in the forum. If serious.....save for a DSLR
Great tips, thanks heaps. I am waiting like a sniper for a second chance of capture. I have been also trying to capture and eagle for the last year which is requiring the best of my patience.
