Description
On a field trip with Jimbo we came across what I believe to be a rare find in the wild in the UK of about a dozen Pearl Guinea Fowl I can only assume these must have escaped at some time from a captive breeding programe for sport shooting.. As the name suggests these are an African species..
This place is noted for its population of Red Kites which was our intended subject but were rewarded with these and two other game birds on the days shoot..
My apologies for my lack of time in the galleries commenting due to my wifes ill health but will get back to everyone soon

neat looking birds in their feathered bodies with less then purty heads!! a fine shot ...sports shooting :P grrrr... take the time you need Danny, our thoughts are with you
Geez Danny...my wife says they're kind of cute...but then again, she married me...better shut up now. She says she used to eat them during Peace Corps days in Senegal. Nice image big guy! -jay
Not the most attractive of fowl, but certainly distinctive looking. You gave them a lot of character with this photo. I wish your wife a speedy recovery.
Such a lovely details, I love the feathers of course the most.....but its face is soooooo ugly...just like a turkey, not my favorite, but the patterns are awesome...and take good care of your self too....get well soon for your wife Sharyn....
Ciao Danny ! Super ! Beautiful birds, and not often it's possible to see them in Europe. They've got an incredible plumage, very delicate, with tender colours. But being a carnivorous... and I like to eat game... and I think they are delicious ;-)))))) like a partridge. I know I'm awfull... forgive me please ;-))) Have a nice evening Danny.
We've been raising these birds here in Texas for the past 18 months. They're very loud, they like to roam about the place and they hate being locked up at night. The last bit makes them the local bobcat's favorite snack! but they do eat a lot of bugs as well as snakes and scorpions.
LOL, they look soooo cool!!! What an excellent capture!!! Well done indeed!!!!! Have a great day #:o)
Funny heads on such beautifully feathered bodies. I get a strong feeling that the are females, but I know that is a very "human" association :-) Super shot as always!
Marvelous capture and what unusual looking birds! Quite well done and I hope your wife recovers quickly.

Fascinating looking birds... sort of like a turkey, but even more homely. Great shot. My very best to you and your wife.
Great shot of these beautiful birds. Love the colors on their heads, almost makes them look like little vultures. Best wishes for getting well of your wife. Tks Danny :^)
Wow, a bunch of pretty guys! Cool shot!
So THAT is what these are!!! Would you believe that I encountered some of these (amongst other strange birds) today running around in a place called the Umbrella Factory here in Charlestown, Rhode Island, my son insisted they were wild turkeys, and I knew they couldn't be.... what a coincidence that you would post this today.... hehehe....

Beautiful We go by a field of wild turkeys almost everyday The field is full of them but they are so far away I love these Beautiful shot:) Vote n hugs Susan~
That texture makes such a clinging Victorian garment. Seeing it in vivo is just one up on in situ.
