Mauna Loa volcano is one of the largest in the world. Its height is 13,680 ft above sea level and the last eruption occurred in 1984. Mauna Loa is inflating again and poses a threat to our town Hilo. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Yes cynlee, the mountain on the horizon is Mauna Loa. Its 1984 eruption lava flow came within 6 miles or less from the upper part of Hilo Town.
