Actually, the mud-cracks are terrain features and not overlays at all! All surfaces are procedural.

Oh so fine! I like both excellent renders, but the top is my favorite- what a wonderful mystic mood you've created with the atmosphere and muted color. The ground cover is very cool.
The top avoids some issues in the stratification and the bottom then brings out a wet look that is new and tenuous.

They are both just awesome. But I think and it is a hard one but the top one comes in a little ahead of the other.
