Description
Hello, Vienna walkers :)
Todays pic is a monument of Johann Nestroy
in front of a beautiful old Biedermeier-house.
Johann Nestroy (1801-1862) is my absolute favourite artist of the Austrian play-writers.
He is also called the "Vienna Shakespeare"...
It is a pity, that his great plays are almost not translateable,
because he wrote much in Austrian dialect,
what even German speakers only hardly can understand.
He was satyrical and humorous,
fighting all his life against censorship and suppression
and for the freedom and equal rights of all people
Todays picture is my tribute for this great artist !

He is the tallest play-writer i have ever seen! And now i know where the name Nestroyplatz comes from :)) If i ever have to design touristbooklets about Vienna, I would like order pics from you!

Wonderful Point of View!
Oups have to look whom he was...and I find...for other its a singer from Viena (1801-1862) Wiener Sger; Schauspieler; Dramatiker witziger Possen und Komien, hinter denen eine philosophische Skepsis liegt. Now I start a singing week...Kse...:-)
Amazing point of view of ths statue and building!!! I lived 6 months in Wien and soon I will come bach there soon, but I never seen before this!!! Thanks for the historical explaination too!!! :)
Wonderful clarity and POV, and pleasing gradient on the sky. Have read that the Austrian lady who won Nobel prize for Literature recently is also difficult to translate.
