Description
Today was a cool autumn day, but still warm enough for a hike at Illinois State Beach Park.
During the hike I discovered numerous ladybug (or ladybird) beetles along Lake Michigan. Apparently some were mere shells of their former selves, drowned and then washed ashore. Other huddled masses of the orange insects were still quite alive. Probably blown here by the cold northwest winds.
