"Rendered" in Microsoft Paint. Ok, the Warhammer 40K fans know what to do with these. For everyone else: Each Company of Adeptus Astertes (Space Marines) is devided into smaller Squads (usually 10). Each Marine's Chapter, Company, Squad and function can be discerned by certain markings on his armor as dictated by the Codex Astertes. There are two types of Chapters: Codex Chapters and Non-Codex Chapters. Those Chapters that adhere to the Codex Astertes follow the strict guidelines of uniform "etiquette". Squad Badges are usually displayed on a shoulder pad, or knee pad. Tactical Squad - most common type of squad / 1 Sergant and 9 Marines / armed with bolters Assault Squad - 1 Sergeant and 9 Marines / armed with close combat weapons / sometimes equiped with jump packs to increase shock troop capabilities Devasator Squad - 1 Sergeant and 9 Marines / 4 equiped with heavy weapons (missle launchers, heavy plasma cannons, etc.) For more information on Adeptus Astertes visit: www.games-workshop.com.
