Description

Well, now that I've seen Karen's photo I'm a bit overwhelmed since this was taken with one-time-use camera. LOL My daughter Beki was in Destin, FL two weeks ago and being on the 20th floor was able to snap this storm coming in...I can just imagine the incredible views of the Bonnie/Charley duo! I do know that the beautiful white sands in Destin have huge furrows in them from this recent storm. I love a storm and am one of those fools that stick around to view it way too long for safety! But I love the power and majesty of nature that man will never master as he has so much else on Earth--it's like Earth has the last word.

Gorgeous! Not only is the photo stunning and powerful in showing the upcoming storm, but I agree with your take on man not being able to control that type of power, though obviously we don't want people hurt either. Brilliant shot!

I too love a good storm. The inhabitants of earth are subject to it's whims and moods! If your strong enough - you ride the storm, if not, you drown in the riptide.

We've just gone through a series of storms here in Manchester UK ... I sat in my garage watching the sheer power of the elements. This shot captures the electric brooding atmosphere very well indeed.

Very ominous and beatiful. One of those reminders not to mess with mother nature or you might get a lightning bolt in the butt. :-)

I love storms. I used to sit and watch them for hours. A branch coming through the window in front of me dimmed my enthusiasm for wind but I still love lightning.

Take this kiss upon the brow!/ And, in parting from you now,/ Thus much let me avow--/ You are not wrong, who deem/ That my days have been a dream;/ Yet if hope has flown away/ In a night, or in a day,/ In a vision, or in none,/ Is it therefore the less gone?/ All that we see or seem/ Is but a dream within a dream./ I stand amid the roar/ Of a surf-tormented shore,/ And I hold within my hand/ Grains of the golden sand--/ How few! yet how they creep/ Through my fingers to the deep,/ While I weep--while I weep!/ O God! can I not grasp/ Them with a tighter clasp?/ O God! can I not save One from the pitiless wave?/ Is all that we see or seem/ But a dream within a dream?/ (Edgar Allan Poe)
