Description
This is a dedication to all the great people here in the Renderosity community who have so much and yet so little in common! For although we share in thought, word and deed, we never meet in the flesh. This kind of trust is rare and something so new in the world today, developing as we all move closer across the electronic circuits of a vast world. Online communities of like-minded individuals are coming together to rant, rave, love and share upon common ideas. We are witnessing the birth of a new type of friend. Thank you all for Friendship in the New Millennium!
In days gone by before the email
People sat and waited for the post,
Friends were made without fail
From acting out as elegant host.
Gone are good time neighbors
Who tended to marry and leave,
Promising a letter of their labors
Yet giving us only a void to grieve.
Perhaps we curse our machine
And cry about the crashes,
But think upon all we glean
Before leaving a pile of ashes.
Friends of old can keep in touch
With just one push of a key,
New friends meet over so much
As we have here at Renderosity!

Yes it's far too easy to complain about modern technology without appreciating the benefits ... particularly in terms of communication, making friends, re-establishing old links and simply learning how other folks live and think. This is a very thoughtful and thought-producing piece of writing. Thank you for sharing.

Hey, I agree with SpiritofGabriel, you really SHOULD submit this to the magazine...I bet they would love it! And it really does make you stop and think about some things normally taken for granted...once again, your words ring so true!
