Description
The lily pond is sleeping now
A mottled mirror to the pale gray sky
Dead brown leaves blow across living grass
Which clings desperately in a futile effort
Tall barren trees stand silent witness
To the waiting...waiting for the silence
Of Winter's coffin blanket of white
Autumn colors now muted and songbirds scarce
I walk these brocaded hillsides
Cold wind whipping my skirt and hair
I loved you more than one heart should
Give me time please to learn to trust
I learned once to believe all you said
It was shattered this dull pewter morning
With a lie -- not even an important one --
But the shock was no less than an unexpected slap
I still love you more than one heart should
Only now, like the late Autumn season
It's tainted with the colour of sadness.

Absolutely beautiful writing here! Excellent job as always:o)
Just a superb job. .... great emotive piece and well written .... think most everyone has 'been there' at some point in their lifetimes? .... VOTE
You should make a book of your poems because they are just simply wonderful....they bring one through an entire spectrum of emotions...Brilliant work!!
wowo hun... you leave me speechless this is wonderful.. and I agree with Avalonne.. a book would be good!
He really did a number on your heart. The solitude & sadness of this perfectly mirrors the day. Bravo my dear!
Brilliantly written! I agree with Avalonne in that you have an incredible talent for capturing such a broad range of emotions in your work and successfully bring them home to the reader so they feel them as they read your poetry. You're one incredible talent, and yes, go for that book idea!
Beautiful compact and precise language [as I've come to expect] for one of those apparently trivial betrayals which wound so deeply. vote
Words from the heart...beautiful and elegantly said. Brava!!
It is true that lies, even the most minute ones, can wound us deeply. The betrayal of trust can create both distance and loneliness as you have eloquently expressed here. Beautifully written.
I had to look out from my winow and see that it is summer now,so well you captured the autumn feeling here. And the feeling of sadness , you said it so beatifully. Thanks !
You've painted a very striking image with your words, here.
Ah,there is such pathos and romance in your poems. Exuisite. :o) CC
