Description

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Five years have passed since the destruction of the second Deathstar, the fall of emperor Palpatine and the great sacrifice of Darth Vader. The New Republic has been founded in the debries of the Empire, forged from the remains of the Rebel Alliance, spreading promisses of freedom and peace throughout the galaxy. But peace is still uneasy and freedom still uncertain for remains of the imperial Navy still run amok throughout the outer rims and borderworld space. Although the remaining imperials should not be more than a mere nuisance anymore, things have been changing in recent month. While imperial attacks have become fewer and less intense, there is accumulating evidence that there could be a new structure behind there actions. Fearfull voices wisper about a new imperial leader. A master warlord, perhaps even surpassing and outperforming the emperor and his dark minions himself. It is speculated an imperial Admiral could have survived the final blow at the battle of Endor that brought the old Empire to its knees. A brilliant and cunning leader plotting the very destruction of the New Republic, to turn the tides and crush the so far seemingly victorius Rebel Alliance. A name is wispered along with the rumors. Grand Admiral Thrawn. Heir to the Empire. ----- This picture was done in Cinema4D 8XL Black bottom bar with text added in Photoshop Inspired by the fantastic novels of Timothy Zahn. Background nebula from Hubble telescope. Additional thanks and credits to Sci-Fi 3D (excellent modelling support and inspiration), the Star Wars modelling Alliance (great artwork and some very decent meshes), 3D Arena (excellent german Cinema4D community), Westend Games (makers of the Star Wars D6 roleplaying game) and many others. I hope you like it. ^_^

Fantastic image. Love everything about it, especially the "cloaking" effect of the mother ship.

Excellent work! I was not used to starwars ships in other environment than plain star space, but since nebulars and such are part of every univeres it seems quite logical. Besides that it looks really cool and if I understand that right, that seems to be something like Episode 7, right? :D

Star Wars rules! How about adding some convoy ships like some lambda shuttles, an action IV, or some escort frigates?

Awesome display of C4D's abilities. As a fan of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars novels, this image does them fitting justice.
